Hotel Ivalo

Location is very good, my room had river view and it is only 20 min walk from the small downtown area and the back door the hotel faces a big frozen river for all kind of winter activities (northern lights watching right at the hotel, cross-country skiing, snowmobile, snow-shoeing, etc) several of those activities one can practice at no-cost. The hotel has an office from where one can also choose and book lots of activities and the lady in charge is very kind and helpful. Breakfast is very good with lots of food options. The restaurant is open almost the whole day to eat buffet menu or a la carta from 15hrs. I tried several nicely cooked regional dishes. Very friendly atmosphere, family oriented but also good for solo travellers. Ladies at the front desk are also very helpful

Good price/quality hotel. Rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. Good location in Ivalo next to the river. Free use of equipment such as ski boots, xc skis, and ice skating shoes was a nice bonus. Activities can be booked at the hotel.

The food was good, but there are not that many options for the buffet (usually one option for meat, one for fish, one type of warm vegetables). However, there is an à la carte menu, and there is a lot of choice for the breakfast.

A beautiful hotel next to the river in Ivalo. Its not the most modern of hotels, but for me that was part of the charm. Access to the finish sauna and to the Jacuzzi's was included in the price. We had dinner in the restaurant before my friends drove back to the North of Norway, and the food was excellent. After I went to the sauna, and had a swim in the river, the only minus was that the stairs down to the river was not in place, but i managed :D The reception, and restaurant staff was very service minded and helpful. I will come back again in the winter time to experience the Hotel and Ivalo in the winter! I can imagine its magical there around Christmas time. The airport is only a short drive away, and there is a shuttle buss that the staff is happy to help you book.

Great place for sport lovers. You can start cross country skiing right from at the hotel entry. The sauna is nicely hot and the swimming pool is really cold (super pleasant!). Our room had a marvellous river view.

Breakfasts were tasty - vegetarians can also be satisfied :-) - but if you stay longer, you might want a bit more variation. The WiFi covered only the reception area and the rooms in the vicinity.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is perfect and I enjoyed everything about the hotel. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of options and was delicious. The food in the restaurant was incredible and I already miss the food from there. The staff were all very professional and so kind and helpful. The rooms were nice and warm and very clean. I'd definitely recommend Hotel Ivalo as a place to stay.

Hotel Ivalo was absolutely spot on! All the staff were lovely & helpful. The games room with the pool table, board games etc was wonderful for our evenings with a few drinks from the bar! The activities provided by Club Nord were amazing, we especially enjoyed the snowmobile safari & go karting on ice (we even paid for a second go!) The hotel is in walking distance to a supermarket, gift shops and lovely restaurants. Absolute little gem!

We would have preferred a double bed over two singles

The staff! Friendly and always ready to help. The sauna and the swimming pool! The proximity to Ivalo village. The restaurant: fantastic food.

The breakfast. Very disappointing, especially the coffee and the juice (water added to it) - the selection of bread and the scrambled eggs. It is a pity because we loved everything else about the hotel, but the breakfast really is not adequate.

The staff was polite, helpful and professional always willing to assist. We wish to mention especially the reception staff and in the Club Nord, William (guide) and the club receptionist- Mrs. Sisko.

The WiFi in our room was nonexistent.

Hotel Ivalo is very environmentally aware, which is fantastic. Also brilliantly helpful and friendly staff, as well as being lovely and warm. We had a great evening meal in the restaurant too. This really is a gem of a place.

I don’t believe there are any rooms with a double bed, which would be our preference. We were only there for one night anyway; however it wouldn’t put me off staying there again.

The room (for 3 people) was spacious, clean and newly renovated. The hotel spa had nice sauna and jacuzzi. Also it was amazing that you can take a dip in River Ivalo straight from the sauna! Breakfast was fresh and diverse. We also dined in the hotel restaurant where the local cuisine was great. All staff members were very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!
