Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

I liked the service and the facilities. Everything was very nice and the concierge was Excellent.

Drinks were for the most part bottom shelf and even the premium/preferred package didn't get us top shelf liquor. Best scotch you could get was regular Buchannan's. Not thrilled with the bar....have seen much better. Food was good but not great. It was a hit and miss. For the most part the only option for breakfast and lunch was the buffet (aside from a few beach spots with burgers and hot dogs but nothing really good). At the buffet a few plates were really good but some others were not good at all. Food I would rate a 7/10. The best food I got at the Steakhouse.

clean property and room service is excellent. very well designed and access to all fun filled facilities. beach was very clean and well maintained

My 2 yr old son got sick and we had to take him to hospital with an ambulance. Ambulance ride cost us US400 + US181 for the doctor attending inside ambulance. on top this resort is affiliated with that hospital and advised an isolated price list for their guest on Ambulance fee, Doctors fee USD400 etc. I enquired about usual Ambulance charges and it about USD25. Trip was within budget until we had that unforeseen situation.

Room: Enough room for a family of 4. Pool: Very good design for kids.

Restaurants: Restaurants A La Carte have no much rooms. Hotel was almost sold out for our days and lines in restaurants are huge. I dont see a clear balance between restaurants capacity and bookings (buffet is ok in this regard). One of the day at the Steak restaurant, server was not friendly as typical in DR. Even the guy have the nerve to kick us out to prepare the table for the next round. Food in the other hand are not big deal in this resort. Reservation system collapsed, the arrival day and the lady was calling us next day close to 9a to pay and also they left a letter which was more than enough. Probably they tend to forget we're on vacation (they called all of my friends around the same time). Of course they woke us up.

Very good facilities. Our Booking concierge, Joel, was excellent, always ready to help, immediate response. The beach personnel was also very good - kudos to Feliciano at the beach bar, and Vida, at the towel station. The personnel at some of the restaurants was not always super friendly (many were very friendly) but they seemed overworked and under a lot of stress. But they were always correct.

The food at the main cafe and restaurant could be better - at least in other dreams hotels we have visited was better. Some of the other restaurants were excellent, though

The property was very clean with a good energy atmosphere. We enjoyed tremendously the ability to go to Breathless next door without restriction. Very nice water park at Onyx. Our room was very comfortable.

The daytime game area for billards or ping pong were closed or absent. The sports bar didn't open until 5pm. We decided to take the property vacation packages presentation. We we told we would receive two massages for our time. When we tried to schedule the massages, only one was free with an additional payment needed for the second person. We complained, but got nothing but excuses for the time we lost at their presentation. BIG SCAM!!! The restaurants were decent, but many were closed, including the buffet. They also had NO "night time" snack bar with hot food,,, pizza, hamburgers etc.

We came across this resort by accident through one of the reviews on Trip Advisor, Barcelo Bavaro was our first choice. I came with my family, this being our first all inclusive experience, and we had an amazing time at the Dream Onyx resort, it will forever be memorable trip for the family and I want to thank Mr. G our Butler and all the supporting resort staff for helping to make that happen. Mr. G is a great Butler, cool personality and he did all he can to make sure we were taking care of, arranged our dinner, sent us a list of activities each day. The facilities were immaculate, clean and just so visually beautiful, it becomes more apparent when you walk around the property. We were very impressed with the level of service offered at both Dream Onyx and Breathless sister resort, no matter what time of the day, early morning and late evening the service was top class, the staff so friendly and humble, this really made our stay so comfortable and relaxed. I want to also thank Samuel for helping us and giving us tips on what to do on and off the resort. I also want to mention Michael Jordan who was in charge of entertainment, he did a fantastic job, I really enjoyed talking with him, fun personality and made the trip fun. The restaurant severs were all fantastic! Special shout out to Vidal, he was funny and was very attentive to our needs. The rooms at this resort were very clean, the maid service was on it, always replenish the bathrooms and the fridge bar with supplies. I mentioned about the sister resort, we went over a few times for entertainment and to eat, I noticed the level of service and quality was the same across both facilities, I can tell this was one big effective team with good Management working together to keep up with the resort and make the experience special for everyone.

We came at a time where the seaweed was heavy so we could not enjoy the beach as much, but everything else the resort had to offer, service, facilities, entertainment, food, and experience outweighed the seaweed. This was no fault of the resort, and they work day and night to keep up with the cleaning of the beaches.

Overall experience was excellent, the staff went above and beyond. Would love to give a few special recognition to certain employees. 1-Felix, Moises and Jomesit in the Mix bar( the service they gave was exceptional. 2- Darlyn- who worked in the French restaurant and in the taco stand- thank you for the laughter, and amazing service. 3-Javier in concierge- your dedication to making sure the guest are satisfied is over the top, Thank you for making our stay and my sister in laws birthday amazing. I will definitely be booking really soon.

Stunning location, Great Suite location with private pool & reserved Bali bed next to the Preferred Club pool area. Excellent Mixologist Domingo in the Preferred Club Lounge! Great Service in all areas ! Fantastic to have access to Breathless included! Great Drivers in the golf carts especially when it was raining! The Best Service provided by the Fantastic Preferred Club Manager Esperanza !!!! Esperanza is a Huge asset to AMRESORTS and the main reason I will continue to revisit after 25 Plus Stays with the brand! Many Thanks Esperanza for Your Fantastic Care!!!! I will be back!!! I Loved Everything except leaving!

The food options for a Vegan were about 70 percent of what they served which fit into my regular eating routine. The resort was so beautiful and clean. The restaurant options you can pick from for weeks. Stayed there 10 days and hated to leave.

The hostile taxi cab drivers when arriving at the airport. It had nothing to do with the resort, but make sure you have schedule your transportation from the airport to the resort through booking.com, otherwise you will be swarmed with taxi people trying to get you in their cars. And you want to stay safe, so schedule with booking. That way you know you will be taken directly to the resort.

The food stations close early at 11pm And if they had a snack one that was open late it was limited, could had more stuff like chips, pizza, tacos , other food options. I was also at breathless side for it to be adult only the entertainment was limited. More r n b music, pool party was not entertained , should be music playing all day & better fun options for adult only spot
