Hotel Ansgar

The breakfast is good, properly served and completed by the personnel (breakfast buffet type ) but it is not extraordinary. A decent one! The location, on the other hand, is very good, in the city center, a few hundred meters from the city's central square, where festivals, concerts, etc. take place.

I can't say that there was anything out of order. The first room was small, but the receptionist changed it for us the next day, without paying anything extra. A small negative point was the fact that we could not check out late, although there were plenty of free rooms (I checked on Booking.com). However, they allowed us to stay in the Lobby, possibly drink coffee, until 5:00pm, which was a nice thing. All in all, a white ball and a quality and helpful staff. The only downside was the price, which would have deserved something a little better.

We loved the style and LOVELY sitting room of the hotel, in an English style with complimentary tea, coffee, snacks and magazines! Very quiet at night, very cosy and also the breakfast was excellent! The staff were super friendly and helped us with a very nice room close to our bikes and a private window with a lot of sun, also we got to park the bikes inside and safely. The hotel helped us with many small requests and the bath was lovely as well! Our room was separate and big, with a very nice queensize bed, and the distance to Esbjerg city centre was very short and just a walk away. We will be back!

Maybe the bathroom floor, with some heat, but it was summer, so it didnt matter. We felt like home and did not want to leave hotel Ansgar! Recommended for families, travelers, businessmen, old couples - and sporty people on stopover like us, for two blissful days in lovely Esbjerg!

A very warm welcome from Soren in reception and he had outstanding customer service. Clean, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast food choice. Close walk to the railway station and very close to the main town square and pedestrian shopping street. I would definitely return.

The coffee machines dispense instant coffee, not real coffee. That was the ONLY negative for me.

Pretty reasonable distance from the train station, spacious rooms with a nice charm to them, decent desk space and appropriately sized private bathrooms. Staff were incredibly friendly and eager to extend a helping hand if needed. Breakfast buffet being included was great value, and with decent options.

I noticed bedsheets had some stains on them, and while I’m sure the sheets themselves are cleaned regularly and it’s just stains that refuse to come out, I think it would be a good suggestion to invest in newer products for guest reassurance given today’s day and age.

The staff were very friendly, upgraded us to a bigger room and gave restaurant recommendations which weee fabulous. The lounge area is delightful with free tea, coffee and snacks. A nice quiet place to rest.

Bathroom a bit outdated but large.

Despite not being able to go due to my flight being cancelled(I work offshore) I have stayed here before and they are superb. I contacted them to explain about my flight and they managed to resell the room and did not charge me. Fantastic team at the Hotel.

Nothing Superb all round

Size of the room, variety of breakfast, location downtown, bed comfort, bathroom and shower layout, water pressure and temperature in the shower, great helpful front desk, early breakfast at 06:00

Poor directional awareness with limited traffic and narrow access from the street to the hotel parking area, weak wi-fi signal,

Good variety, all very tasty. We enjoyed our breakfasts.

The heating was t on and it was cold for the first day/ night until I figured out how to work the radiator. The shower was not very warm.

Excellent Hotel Centrally located in a beautiful town in Denmark. The staff are very friendly and there is free tea and coffee available if you require a drink. There is also a selection of paid beers.

Bit pricey but its June and you expect the prices to increase due to demand.

The hotel has a charm from an earlier era, with comfortably furnished public areas and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Given the present circumstances, and with not being able to open the restaurant, I thought the breakfast arrangements were good. Nice fresh food, well presented. My room was very clean and the bed, very comfortable. It is now 25 years since my first stay at the Ansgar. It remains my favourite Esbjerg hotel.
